Many people seem to think that acne is solely a teenage problem, but that isn’t always the case.

In fact, acne often does continue into adulthood, which is why it is important to get control of it quickly.

If you have acne that you simply cannot get rid of, then you are probably experiencing some of the same conversations:

“So you are just eating junk all the time? If you eat a salad instead of chocolate your skin will clear up!”
“You shouldn’t touch your face so much – it is bad for your skin!”
“Invest in a really good cover up and it will all be okay!”

The truth is that many of the things we think cause acne don’t always do so. In fact, most of the time it is hereditary or because of hormones.

So what can you do to help with your acne?

If you watch television late at night (or just fall asleep with the television on and wake up in a blue glow), you have probably seen an advertisement for the acne-fighting products from Acnezine.

WHAT IS ACNEZINE?

Acnezine isn’t like any of the other acne treatments that you have tried before. It is a completely original formula that is composed of two key parts: a moisturizing cream and an antioxidant supplement.

Now, how can something which has only two steps clear your skin in a few weeks?

To start, this treatment is advertised as a complete skin care and skin management system that will cure all of your acne related problems with two simple products.

I guess if the claim was not so overboard, I would probably have more hope as to the results with this duo, but let’s not have any preconceived ideas, you know we like to test so testing we will be….

OUR ACNEZINE REVIEW

THE CREAM

acnezine face cream

What is it?

The moisturizing cream is composed of a 5{1e35c1693fa46bfa299623e1cddb4fa765bbcba505a6bf5a8d9ff9d2e14d7ebb} benzoyl peroxide mixed with aloe juice, allantoin, birch extract, green tea extract, lemon peel oil, tea tree oil, and citrus extract. There are about a dozen other natural ingredients in there as well.

Composition:

Benzoyl Peroxide 5{1e35c1693fa46bfa299623e1cddb4fa765bbcba505a6bf5a8d9ff9d2e14d7ebb}, Allantoin, Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Benzyl Alcohol, Betula Alba (Birch) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Carbomer, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange/Neroli) Fruit Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance (Parfum), Glycerin, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Honey, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Methylpropanediol, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hydroxide, Sugar Cane Extract, Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Extract, Water (Aqua), Xanthan Gum.

Our opinion:

Just like in many other skincare products, there isn’t any doubt here that the benzoyl peroxide will kill the bacteria that causes acne. In fact, the FDA has authorized the claim that peroxide is GRASE, or generally recognized as safe and effective.

Now, a gel with 5{1e35c1693fa46bfa299623e1cddb4fa765bbcba505a6bf5a8d9ff9d2e14d7ebb} benzoyl peroxide as an ingredient will usually eliminate about 20{1e35c1693fa46bfa299623e1cddb4fa765bbcba505a6bf5a8d9ff9d2e14d7ebb} of your black and whiteheads in the first week, then another 15{1e35c1693fa46bfa299623e1cddb4fa765bbcba505a6bf5a8d9ff9d2e14d7ebb} by the end of the month. As far as pimples go, you will see a 30{1e35c1693fa46bfa299623e1cddb4fa765bbcba505a6bf5a8d9ff9d2e14d7ebb} reduction during the first week and another 30{1e35c1693fa46bfa299623e1cddb4fa765bbcba505a6bf5a8d9ff9d2e14d7ebb} after the month is over.

However, as most people who test a lot of products know, using this strength of benzoyl peroxide can cause other problems like burning, drying, itchiness, redness, stinging, and peeling. In fact, some people get these side effects so much that they cannot continue using the products.

Thankfully, as we have made strides in skincare, there are newer formulations of benzoyl peroxide that disperses as microcrystals that don’t irritate the skin as much (while still being effective and reaching the bacteria in the pores) and microspheres that help to release the benzoyl peroxide slowly.

However, there is a catch as Acnezine doesn’t actually contain any of the newer formulas – it goes back to the traditional formula that many had problems with.

The other problem is that the formula contains other ingredients that irritate the skin, like lemon peel oil– and alpha and beta hydroxyl acids. When added to benzoyl peroxide, this can create a formula that is even more irritant and potentially burning!

Between burns and acne, it might be a tough call, but acne would probably be better.

A better formula will have more soothing ingredients to help combat the harsh effects of benzoyl peroxide.

Texture:

While it is called a cream, it is actually more of a gel. It is super light and easily applies and absorbs right into the skin, making it an excellent choice for people who have oily skin.

THE DAILY SUPPLEMENT

acnezine supplement

The formula contains an antioxidant blend of a few different vitamins, alpha lipoic acid, aloe vera, curcumin, hyaluronic acid, collagen, and coQ 10.

Our Opinion ?

When we read the composition of the product, it appeared that we weren’t testing an acne treatment at all, but rather an antioxidant supplement to combat aging. This means that the ingredients didn’t appear to be that useful as a treatment against acne.

Don’t get me wrong; if it was for antiaging, I would tell you, ok that is not bad, though there are much better antiaging supplements out there, but for acne, that is questionable.

The asset

The one ingredient that does stand out as a benefit is that they added curcumin (and biopiperin, which increases efficiency and absorption of curcumin).

Curcumin is a very potent active ingedient from turmeric, with anti-inflammatory properties, so it should could remove some of the redness and irritation associated with acne.

Still, the dosage is far too low, with only 25mg per capsule, when 500 mg is the usual dosage recommended to benefit from its effects…

So I definitely think this supplement won’t be very useful in our acne battle.

OUR RESULTS

We used it for 4 weeks as recommended by the brand.

As we expected, the “cream” definitely was a bit too harsh and the oily skin of our reviewer became quite dry and irritated. We had to stop the treatment for a few days to let his skin get back to normal. Then we tried to use it every 2 days, which was better.  But after 4 weeks, there was not much improvement.

I definitely think this approach is way too aggressive. I strongly feel this gel could have been better if the formulators had not added those hydroxyacids to this formula with 5{1e35c1693fa46bfa299623e1cddb4fa765bbcba505a6bf5a8d9ff9d2e14d7ebb} of benzoyl peroxide.

Simply put, the product could have been much better if they hadn’t added hydroxyacids to a formula that contains a high amount of benzoyl peroxide.

As for the supplement, that didn’t have any side effects…but then again, it didn’t really have any real effects at all on our reviewer’s acne.

THE PRICE

The advertised price of a 30-day supply of Acnezine is $40 US, but as you can guess we think it is not really worth it.

You only get two products for that price, one that doesn’t do anything and one that is a bit too harsh and can actually make your skin worse.

The other problem?

While this was advertised as a “complete acne skincare system,” it is far from actually being one. It doesn’t include key components like a cleanser, an exfoliant, a toner, any microdermabrasion products, or supplements that actually reduce acne.

And they don’t have any real money back guarantee.

In fact, you will find in the FAQ from the official website this : “You may return any unused and unopened item purchased from us for any reason within ninety (90) days of your purchasefor a refund of the purchase price.” which is not very useful and even a bit disappointing if we look at other brands which mostly offer a real money back guarantee after using their products.

THE OTHER ACNEZINE REVIEWS

So are we the only people who didn’t like to use this treatment? there are also mixed reviews, some positive, some negative. That means even if it was not effective for us, it doesn’t mean it cannot be effective for your case.

Never try this product on your face. I bought it and I had to say sorry to my face. Just after 1 time apply, my face was swollen, red and ichy. The worse product I’ve ever tried. Don’t buy!!! – khan Tp vu

“arrived fast……this is the only acnce treatment that ACTUALLY works for me and at a great price too not over priced like proactive try it for youselves” – arronedie

CONCLUSION

Could Acnezine help clear up your skin? In our opinion, the answer is a “don’t think so”.

The biggest problem is that effective acne treatments cannot only rely on a supplement and a cream.

  • The “moisturizer” contains enough benzoyl peroxide to fight acne bacteria, but also enough benzoyl peroxide and harsh botanical ingredients to guarantee your skin will dry out and make it worse as your skin will backfire. The “moisturizer” may be OK if your skin resists chemical irritation—but there are many more effective products.
  • The antioxidant formula won’t really help, which means you are litterally wasting your money.

So we recommend you not to waste your time and money on this product. For the same price point, you can have much more interesting, complete and effective products.
