<p>Some foods that are high in protein are nuts, fish, and dairy products.  Gelatin, which is actually an animal product, is also a great source of protein for the hair. A tan may look attractive, but it&#8217;s actually the skin&#8217;s response to damage. Tanning beds are no safer than sunlight, either; they also use ultraviolet rays to give the skin that lovely, but dangerous tan. If you plan to be out during the day, always apply a sunscreen that protects against both UVA and UVB radiation. Your skin will thank you for it years later.</p>
<p>If you wear makeup, remove it thoroughly at the end of the day. Makeup is meant to beautify, but there&#8217;s nothing pretty about clogged pores and the pimples that come with them. Oil-free makeup removers do a good job of readying your face for cleansing.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s important to cleanse your skin thoroughly, but gently. While it&#8217;s a myth that blemishes are caused by dirt, it&#8217;s true that dirt almost always results in blemishes. However, cleansing too much or with harsh detergents strips your skin of its natural protection. The thinner skin on your face is especially susceptible to irritation from drying soaps. Use a cleanser formulated for your face once or twice a day at most.</p>
<p>Even clean skin gets blemishes. As tempting as it may be to make that pimple disappear with a squeeze, avoid picking or popping. Pimples contain bacteria which then get spread over surrounding skin when the pimple pops. Not only does picking potentially spread infection, it can also lead to permanent scarring or pitting. <p>Anything worth achieving requires a proper and reasonable plan of &#8220;attack&#8221;. Weight loss is no exception to this rule.  The most successful individual&#8217;s who achieve long term weight loss, are those who follow a very specific plan and have a positive network of support and guidance backing them up.</p>
<p>Below is a way to start your journey towards long term weight loss:<br />
The key is to plan then &#8220;act&#8221;.  Without this, you will not succeed.</p>
<p>1. Devise a plan:<br />
People sometimes get confused by plans and goals. The end result goal in your case is weight loss but the plan is the means on how you are going to use this plan to achieve your desired weight loss. While you will undoubtedly have short term goals and a long term goal, they are not your plan.  A plan would consist of, for example, eating breakfast; walking a half hour per day; not eating after 8pm; eliminating soda from your daily routine; etc.  These are plans that can help you reach your goal of weight loss.  If you&#8217;ve tried certain things before and they didn&#8217;t work because of your lack of commitment then try loosening the plan a little for something that you could easily achieve without pushing yourself too hard. If you have a plan of walking/running 1 hour a day but you think that you might give up too easily on that: shoot for 15 minutes a day &amp; once you&#8217;ve made the 15 minutes try and push yourself for 15 minutes more. You&#8217;re much better off making a plan for 15 minutes of walking a day and doing it than making a plan of walking 1 hour a day and never leaving the couch.</p>
<p>2. Execute the plan:<br />
The greatest weight loss plan in the world will do you or anyone no good if it&#8217;s not followed.  This is why so many people fail. They want to lose the weight but aren&#8217;t willing to make commitment and necessary sacrifices to actually meet their goals.  Action is the critical to your success. If you do the same, you&#8217;ll get the same. If your plan is not something you think you can commit to, change your &#8220;guidelines&#8221; to something that is feasible, given your current lifestyle and particular situation. </p>
<p>3. See the plan through<br />
Stay focused on your short and long term weight loss goals, and don&#8217;t give up.  There may be some minor setbacks, but use these as learning opportunities. It is not the easiest thing getting started, but it is a proven fact that it takes 21 days to form a habit.  Keep your plan up for a few weeks and you&#8217;ll be well on your way to your weight loss goals.<br />
By simply creating a plan and working and staying with it, you&#8217;ll soon begin to see your desired results. Sometimes it only takes us seeing the start of results to get us really motivated to take the weight off.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, there are many individuals who desire weight loss BUT they can&#8217;t seem to come up with the right plan of attack or don&#8217;t have the support network to assist them with their journey.  I have discovered an excellent program that has such a plan and provides excellent support. It involves similar programming that is popular on &#8220;The Biggest Loser&#8221;.  In fact, this program was started by two of the &#8220;biggest losers&#8221;: Bill and Jim Germanakos, the winners of Season 4 of NBC&#8217;s hit reality show. It involves a sensible and sane approach to calorie consumption and exercise. There is a great support network and you&#8217;re never alone as you strive to complete your weight loss goals and truly begin to see a new you.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, I believe the main culprit here is an inability to control lasting behavior changes. After all, it&#8217;s not knowing about diet and exercise, it&#8217;s about knowing how to implement diet and exercise day in and day out.</p>
<p>Thus, without further ado, here is how to master your motivation to master your metabolism:</p>
<p>1. Have very specific goals: Undefined goals lead to undefined behavior. And the fastest way to get what you want is to know exactly what you want. So don&#8217;t rely on vague weight loss motivators such as, &#8220;I want to increase my health.&#8221;</p>
<p>2. Take at least some measurements: If you track some variables, you are more likely to succeed here. Without a way of tracking progress, you are much more likely to lose motivation or to fall of the bandwagon. Even better, tracking measurements helps you assess program effectiveness.</p>
<p>3. Make your goal very big: Big thinking leads to big action. A small goal will lead to small motivation, but a big goal will lead to massive motivation. So dream, just like you used to when you were a child. Having a big goal is the best gift you can give yourself.</p>
<p>4. Use a carrot, not a whip: Don&#8217;t take action to avoid the negatives of not doing. Instead, move forward towards a fat juicy carrot. In other words, don&#8217;t try to get in shape because you want to avoid disease. Get in shape because you want to obtain a healthy body.</p>
<p>5. Have strict deadlines: You have been conditioned by society to follow deadlines. So why not use this available conditioning to your advantage? Make sure you don&#8217;t let your goals vanish in the always distant future. Take hold in the now by setting a deadline.</p>
<p>Learning how to master your motivation doesn&#8217;t require herculean effort. It requires a sound strategy for behavior change. And remember that the most important ingredient here is taking action!</p>

<p>Unfortunately, the whole mentality behind buffet-style eating goes against almost every weight loss principle.</p>
<p>So here is how to make sure eating out doesn&#8217;t destroy your weight loss goals:</p>
<p>1. Have a plan beforehand: Don&#8217;t just show up to the buffet without an idea of what you want to eat. Doing so will set you up for an all out binge. Having a simple idea of what you are going to get beforehand can make a huge difference in terms of how much food you end up eating.</p>
<p>2. Don&#8217;t lose track of all the small dishes: Small dishes can pack a huge caloric punch, especially if they are heavy on the sauce side. So don&#8217;t assume that eating a bunch of small dishes is ok, keep track of what you are eating regardless of size.</p>
<p>3. Stay away from sugar: And any other fast digesting carbohydrate source as these will have a the worst impact on your weight loss efforts. Try to eat as many salads and vegetables as possible as these will fill up your stomach with volume and prevent massive sugar cravings.</p>
<p>4. Have watery soups: Soups that are broth-based or watery, have fewer calories and leave you feeling very full. Just be careful with creamy soups as they can be loaded with a lot of calories. And if you add vegetables to your soup, you&#8217;ll feel even fuller.</p>
<p>5. Be careful with all the add-ons: Toppings in all shapes and sizes can turn a healthy, fat burning meal into a weight gain mire. Be especially careful with cheeses and extra dressings here as they are loaded with insulin resistant saturated fat.</p>
<p>It is possible to eat out every so often while maintaining weight loss progress. The key here is to make sure you have some type of plan and to stick with it!</p>

<p>1. Dietary supplements are 100% safe: Absolutes don&#8217;t exist and supplements are no exception here. In fact, just because a supplement is natural is no guarantee that it&#8217;s completely safe. The reality is that many things exist in nature that are deadly.</p>
<p>2. Supplements are backed by scientific studies: Only prescription drugs need FDA approval. Dietary supplements, on the other hand, do NOT require rigorous FDA testing. Even worse, many of the bar charts and study references found on the packaging are simply ghost studies performed by the manufacturers themselves.</p>
<p>3. Supplement manufacturers are acting in our best interest: The bottom line is that millions and millions of dollars are spent on advertising to get you to buy.
